Built on top of our governed semantic layer and metric-first query language, Holistics AI is designed to help teams explore data and build charts through natural language, all while staying grounded in trusted, curated datasets.

Get Quick Answers with Explore Data (Basic)

Explore Data (Basic) gives you a fast, code-free way to build visualizations. Instead of dragging and dropping fields like you're playing Jenga with dimensions, you just ask what you want:

• “Count total orders by category”
• “Show revenue this month.”

The assistant parses your question, looks into the semantic layer, and serves you the answer.

Solving Complex Questions with Explore Data (Thinking)

Sometimes the metric you want isn’t there, or the question you’re asking wasn’t anticipated, or the dataset just doesn’t know what you mean, yet.

That’s when you switch to Explore Data (With Thinking), which helps you work through complex questions by thinking step-by-step. It dynamically builds the logic and fields it needs to answer queries like:

• How do this month’s numbers compare to last month? (Period Comparison)
• What’s the percent of total by category? (Percent of Total)
• Can I track cumulative sign-ups over time? (Cumulative Totals)

It’s ideal for deeper analysis, especially when you’re short on time or need to explore without writing SQL. Some responses may take a few extra seconds, but that’s the tradeoff for smarter answers. :)

Keep Asking: Slice & Dice with Follow-Ups

You got your visualizations, and you found something interesting. Orders look weird in Phoenix. Revenue’s spiking in Home Decor. Now what?

Using Explore Data (With Thinking), you can take your exploration further by drilling down into details. Follow-up questions work right inside the thread.

And if you don’t know what to ask next, the AI gently nudges you forward with smart suggestions. It’s like having a data analyst whispering, “Hey, have you looked over here yet?”

A Few Things to Know

• Holistics AI uses the OpenAI API to help generate insights. When you use Search Docs, it doesn't access your data at all. When using Explore Data, it only looks at metadata, like your modeling schema, labels, descriptions, and formulae, not your raw data.
• All processing follows OpenAI’s usage policies. If you’re curious, you can check out their Privacy Policy here.
• As this is still an early (alpha) release, there may be times when we need to temporarily pause the AI feature for updates or maintenance.
• If needed, organization admins can turn off Holistics AI at any time in your workspace settings.
