Built on top of our governed semantic layer and metric-first query language, Holistics AI is designed to help teams explore data and build charts through natural language, all while staying grounded in trusted, curated datasets.

Ask AI

You get a simple, ChatGPT-style interface where you can type your question and go. Our new Ask AI automatically determines your intent and selects the appropriate knowledge source to deliver the right answers.

With this feature, you can:

• Ask anything about your data without specifying a dataset; the AI automatically picks the appropriate dataset.
• Ask anything about how to use Holistics (e.g., "How do I set up a Git workflow?") without selecting a "Search Docs" mode.
• Access the unified AI instantly from the Reporting home page and the left navigation bar (now including mobile).

Inspect How AI Answers Are Formed

Holistics AI shows its chain-of-thought process so you can double-check AI-generated results.

Users can see how it breaks down a question step by step, revealing the logic behind the insights. This transparency builds trust and ensures users always understand how their data-driven decisions are formed.

Most semantic layers fall short on complex queries, but Holistics AQL lets AI think like analysts, querying in steps, not all at once. Instead of cramming everything into one big query, AQL builds answers incrementally with composable, inspectable, and reusable operations, creating a more transparent and reliable natural-language BI experience.

Every operation is visible and editable. If the answer is not what you need, you don’t start from scratch; you just tweak the offending step right from the GUI. Analysts can even promote their fixed metrics into the semantic layer, so the AI (and other users) can reuse those corrected definitions in future analysis.

That said, we’re continuously refining Holistics AI to be even smarter, more intuitive, and more reliable. With every iteration, we aim to improve its ability to deliver accurate insights and make data exploration smoother.

Stuck on something? Use the Search Docs feature to get quick, contextual answers to your questions - whether you're troubleshooting an issue or trying to understand a data concept.

This makes it easier to work independently while still feeling supported every step of the way.

A Few Things to Know

• Holistics AI uses the OpenAI API to help generate insights. When you use Search Docs, it doesn't access your data at all. When using Explore Data, it only looks at metadata, like your modeling schema, labels, descriptions, and formulae, not your raw data.
• All processing follows OpenAI’s usage policies. If you’re curious, you can check out their Privacy Policy here.
• As this is still an early (alpha) release, there may be times when we need to temporarily pause the AI feature for updates or maintenance.
• If needed, organization admins can turn off Holistics AI at any time in your workspace settings.
